I stayed my first night in the airport, again because I didn’t want to spend $50 on a taxi and wait for public transport in the morning! I roamed the city early Sunday morning before the sun came up and enjoyed a great day of church. My couchsurfing hosts were great and showed me the city. I cooked them an AMERICAN bacon cheeseburger! I really liked the city’s vibe, highly recommend a visit!

Cool Person I Met
Elias. Honestly, I forget who Elias was! Here I am months later trying to write about Elias when I forgot to jot down brief notes about this guy. Unfortunately, the only thing I remembered to record for my future reference the name Elias. Next time, I’ll write a brief description quickly after meeting someone. I decided to start a spreadsheet containing brief notes about people I met along my travels.
Highlight
Worshipping and fellowshipping with believers from Spain, Honduras, and El Salvador
Big Takeaway
America was founded by Europeans, but Europe is now profoundly impacted by Americans. Starbucks and McDonalds are on every street corner (except I didn’t see any in Italy)! Madrid is a good example regarding the Americanization of Europe. The Gran Via street resembles Broadway in NY, fast food has practically all originated from America, and my new Spanish friends only watched popular American TV series. American businesses have no doubt influenced (big city) societies around the world. Imagine life today without AirBnB, Snapchat, Facebook, ExxonMobil, and Apple.
